We were strolling through the narrow streets of a Mediterranean island. The sky was clearing after a rainy afternoon. He and I were on a bench, on a path untrodden in the off-season. In front of us, the sea, blue as only in winter can be; behind us, the mysterious song of nature.
And so one of us said, "Every ray of sunshine makes her different, different from the second before." And the other replied, "She's like a pearl."
We felt that moment was ours, and of course, we had a pair of loafers on our feet. For years now, we've worn nothing else. Our house was overrun, and, returning to Milan, encountering the gray of one of his brooding afternoons, we decided to relive that moment in something we could experience at every moment of our lives.
So we thought that a few things could accompany us, like a good pair of shoes.
"And why don't we start with loafers?"
“Are you crazy? We have no family in the industry, we don't know anyone.”
“But how wonderful would it be to be able to convey what we experience in moments of joy to other people? That slow, peaceful aesthetic, now lost in the fleeting nature of our daily modernity.”
“OK, but they'll have to be crazy, they'll have to shine like Capri under every ray of sunshine, be as charming as getting lost in the streets of Monte Carlo, they'll have to be authentic like all the people we love.”
“Done.”
So we designed a moccasin that embodied our entire world. We first designed the clamp and then thought of charms that could be attached, to make that shoe unique for each of us.
Thus Riviera Porzioli was born. From the dream of living the dream of the call of an unlived dolce vita. With the courage to redefine tradition.
